Five years of Guantánamo: Justice delayed is justice denied
Today, 11 January 2007, marks the fifth anniversary of the unlawful and indefinite detention of hundreds of people at the US run detention centre in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.
Around 400 detainees, of 35 different nationalities, remain held at Guantánamo Bay, without trial.
Many of these detainees have never even been charged and do not have access to any court, legal counsel or family visits. They are in legal limbo and have been denied their rights under international law.
